The reason I choose to paint what I did was because I wanted people to pass by and laugh when they saw a monkey. The purpose of the painting titled “The Answer to Life.” Was to make people happy. Although, I don't know the right answer to the equation of formula written above the monkey, the idea was to be ironic with the answer. I didn't want to paint something simple or complex, I was looking for something that was in the middle, something different. What I loved about the painting was the mistake I did, I told myself only make the painting more unique. The background was a big part of the painting where I struggled. I couldn't think of anything that is why I left it simple. The shapes give a good effect to the monkey while not taking the attention away from it. I wanted the emphasis on the monkey, I believe the shapes were able to do that and fill up blank space. One thing I thought I should have done was finish the background of the painting, but after looking back the unfinished background made the painting better. The fact that I was not able to finish adding color to the nose and adding final details to the face make me both disappointed and satisfied.

After finishing the painting I started working on improving on topics that are more realistic. One theme I choose to continue is natures and animals. I plan to paint and draw both those themes and improve my painting skills. My future goals are to improve on painting. I found out that painting is completely different from drawing. Just knowing that I'm not a good painter is pushing me to be the best. When I work with paint is reminds me that I could improve with practice. By challenging myself as a painter and creating complex is only going to improve me as an artist. Furthermore, this practice will help me in the future to reach my real goals.
