Have you ever won a fish at a fair? When looking at my canvas you will see a human hand holding a plastic bag in which contains an Orca whale. This represents how in aquariums we take beautiful animals from our large ocean and put them in a small space restricting them from their freedom. I decided to paint in realism with acrylic paint for this piece as a challenge for myself. Under the plastic bag I used a blue wash to represent the beauty and freedom of the animal leaving its body after being in captivity. I added Arabic writing in the background as I am intrigued by this language in the beauty of the symbols. This painting is a representation of being set free and to show people in another way how we take something beautiful and make it another puppet in our show.
